With the four corners of the foundation now exposed and Father back from Retreat at Johnstown, he sends this message:
Sunday, immediately after Divine Liturgy, those who wish to do so may accompany me to the building site for a brief rite of blessing for the foundation; essentially, it completes the blessing begun by His Grace Bishop Gregory this past October.
Following the blessing, all may return to church for coffee hour ….
The “immediately after Divine Liturgy” is necessitated by Allard family logistics as they meet another Sunday obligation.
The surveyors staked the site on Monday and Tuesday the 24th and 25th. As I write, some preliminary earth moving is expected Monday March 31.
We do not yet have a date projected for the next service at the site, but it will be posted as soon as possible.
Roger Bennett for himself, Annie Fish and Brad Shaffer.
The Saint Alexis parking lot was quite treacherous at Vespers February 1: rain over packed snow now turned to ice.
Father Gregory will try to get our plowing service out to salt the ice rink liberally, but just in case, be careful driving in, turning into your spot, and especially getting in and out of your car.
My understanding is that at or soon after his arrival around 4 pm October 13, there will be a blessing of our land and a dinner. I’ll try to keep this very post updated during what promises to be a very hectic week for me even apart from Church matters.
The voting ended at 5 pm and the ballots were counted by Brad Shaffer, Annie Fish and Roger Bennett.
The proposal to borrow and build was approved by a vote of 40 to 15, which exceeds the minimum 2/3 requirement.
Builder and banker have been called or e-mailed, and the process will now go forward as quickly as possible.
Thanks to all who discussed and voted.
UPDATE: The final vote was 40-16, not 40-15. Someone voted online after 4:59, and the vote didn’t appear when we first checked SurveyMonkey for the results.
The Church web page on the New Building has been updated with some exciting news.
